The Cambodian People Circus –
Phare: The Cambodian Circus
Phare: The Cambodian Circus shows are unique, unlike anything in the world…and no animals are used!
The Cambodian People Circus (Phare) was first started in 1994 by nine young, Cambodian men returning home from a refugee camp, after the fall of the Khmer Rouge.
Trying to bring back some much-needed joy into their war-torn country – they banded together to create this circus. Training young Cambodian people to perform, this is is the first of its kind – and you can see this amazing spectacular here in Siem Reap
The performers combine theater, music and dance to tell uniquely Cambodian stories; incorporating an amazing blend of acrobatics, juggling and contortion – all is beautifully choreographed and performed to original live music.
The young circus artists will astonish you with their energy, emotion, enthusiasm and talent
Training through the circus is used to help develop the skills and discipline of young Cambodian artists – with the aim of reviving the nation’s art scene that had been systematically wiped out through war.
The Cambodian People Circus is a non-profit organization, which is transforming the lives of Cambodian youth..and bringing a bright, new future to their art.
Brilliant Fusion of storytelling and acrobatics
Ridiculously impressive, emotional and personal
